Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"This vineyard site has proved to be the building block for some of Saint Clair’s finest wines. This is the vineyard where Saint Clair Family Estate first discovered the fruit to make their flagship Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc.
The fruit was sourced from a single vineyard owned by the Sowman family on the fertile, free-draining soils of the lower Wairau Valley. The fruit was carefully monitored during ripening and harvested in the cool of the evening at maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.
Classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas of passionfruit and blackcurrant with a hint of oyster shell. Luscious tropical fruit and crushed herb flavours combine with an elegant mineral character. The palate is intense and generous with a chalky texture and salty notes lingering on the finish."
5 Stars & Top 5, Cuisine Sauvignon Blanc Tasting, December 2022 (2022 Vintage)
"An expressive and distinctive nose filled with green capsicum, dried herbs, gooseberry, crunchy green aromas and other sauvignon-esqe delights. The palate is linear yet full of life, incredibly juicy and well weighted. An impressive wine with a long, focussed finish."
Reviews for the 2021 vintage below…
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"The 2021 vintage is a classic Dillons Point style. Grown in the lower Wairau Valley, it is intensely aromatic and full-bodied, with tropical fruit and herbaceous flavours, showing very impressive delicacy and depth, vaguely salty notes, and a dry (1.6 grams/litre of residual sugar), lengthy finish."
