“Estate-grown and hand-picked in the Gimblett Gravels, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 16 months in French oak barriques and puncheons (35 per cent new), the 2015 vintage is deeply coloured, with a scented, distinctly peppery bouquet. Mouthfilling, it has fresh, concentrated flavours of plums, spices and nuts, with supple tannins and a long, finely textured finish. Highly approachable in its youth, it’s also well worth cellaring; best drinking 2020+.”

The palate exhibits outstanding fruit purity and concentration, combined with fabulous spicy/savoury complexity, impeccably framed by polished tannins. At its best: 2019 to 2030.”

“Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter edged, youthful in appearance. This has a beautifully fragrant and aromatic nose of ripe blackberries melded with a layering of black and violet florals, and a fine core of ripe black plums, liquorice and spices with hints if black pepper. Some herbal complexities from the whole bunch add to the aromatic array. This has finesse, beauty and seamless volume. Medium-full bodied, the palate has very rich and lusciously refined fruit flavours of blackberries and black plums entwined with exotic florals, liquorice, spices and dark herbs. The mouthfeel is smooth and seamless and the wine flows along a satin-like line, with wonderfully refined, powdery tannin extraction. The wine leads to a blossoming perfumed and aromatic finish. This is a beautifully aromatic, voluminous and seamless Syrah with ripe black fruits, exotic florals and very fine, silken textures. this will keep 10-12+ years. Fruit from the ‘Deerstalkers’ vineyard, Gimblett Gravels, indigenous yeast fermented with up to 20% whole clusters to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 20-30 days on skins and aged 16 months in 35% new French oak barrels and puncheons. 283 dozen made.”

“A core of dark purple and ruby with a ruby and pink rim. A bouquet of texture and high energy with aromas of wild violet flowers dark berries and black currant, pepper spice, bitter chocolate, animal, meat, field mushroom and baked red fruits pie; complex though quite youthful as well. On the palate – youthful, a core of dark berry fruits, baking spices, oak and peppercorn flavours, some olive notes and ageing meats; noticeable tannin, very noticeable acidity, medium+ weight, lengthy finish and dry. A must cellar example. Decant for service from now and through 2020. Best from 2020 through 2035.”

“Excellent complex Syrah with dark ruby colour, bone dry style and a full body with rich dark fruit. It could age well but is open to drinking and enjoying now too; thanks to its smooth, soft, velvety mouthfeel and powerful dark fruit flavours, which intermingle beautifully with notes of spice, cedar and a hint of pepper. It’s one of my top three wines of the 2015 Gimblett Gravels line up.”
