Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 vintage yielded beautiful fruit from each of our sites, which we have simply guided gently through to the bottle with minimal handling. Our “hands-off” approach delivers a pure expression of Central Otago to your glass; an expressive nose and deeply fruited palate displaying vibrant notes of red and black cherry, rich mocha and supple, silky tannins leading into a very long finish. As always this wine shows classic Rockburn elegance, integrity and balance."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Sweetly fruited and gorgeously complex, the wine shows ripe plum, dark cherry, vanilla, subtle spice, olive and cedar characters on the nose. The palate is equally impressive, displaying excellent concentration and intensity. It's soothing and comforting with seductive flavours and rich texture, finishing fabulously long and velvety. At its best: now to 2026."
93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Floral and quite a pretty bouquet with aromas of pink roses and raspberry, plums and red cherries then oak. New, fresh, vibrant and quite complex. On the palate – vibrant and fruity with flavours that reflect the nose. Firm tannins and plenty of acidity combine to form a decent foundation structure for the ripe fruit flavours. Chalky tannins and brown baking spices of oak. Well made, youthful still and lengthy. Best drinking from 2021 through 2026."
4 Stars Cuisine Pinot Noir Tasting, April 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Plenty of oak and generous fruit in a rich, bold style of Central Otago pinot which is full of primary fruit promise teaming with raspberry spice and plums. The mouthfeel is full and rich with wonderfully chalky tannins that provide length and structure. A very smart wine that just calls for one more glass."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"The impressive 2017 vintage was matured for 10 months in French oak casks (35 per cent new). Deep ruby, it has an inviting, fragrant bouquet of plums, spices and nuts. Mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with deep, well-ripened plum, cherry and spice flavours, it is savoury and complex, with lovely harmony. A classy, youthful wine with obvious cellaring potential, it should be long-lived; best drinking 2020+."
5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Richly textured pinot noir in a restrained fruit-bomb style with ripe plum, dark cherry, coffee, liquorice and sweet oak flavours. Generously proportioned wine with layers of subtle flavours leading to a lengthy finish."
NZIWS 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A sensually smoky, silky, ruby-hued pinot with bright cherry fruit cocooned by soft chocolatey oak, woodsmoke and anise-like spices. Refreshing acidity adds vibrancy to the juicy, supple, super long, satisfying finish. Sensational."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Raymond Chan, November 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with slight purple tints. This has a firm and finely packed nose with aromas of dark-red and black-berried fruits along with a soft and harmonious layer of dark herbs and nuances of whole bunch stalk complexities. The aromatics unfold dark-red floral notes with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a finely concentrated and elegant core of ripe black and dark-red berry fruit entwined with soft notes of dark herbs and whole bunch stalk nuances, along with violet and dark red floral lift. The wine flows along a finely driven line with refined tannin structure and fresh acidity that lends energy and vibrancy to the mouthfeel. The wine carries to an elegant, sustained finish. This is a finely concentrated Pinot Noir with ripe dark-red and black fruit and a subtle layering of herbs and whole bunch elements, with a refined structure and fresh acidity. Serve with beef, lamb and venison over the next 6 years. Clones 10/5, 5, 6, Abel, 667 and 777, the fruit 88% Parkburn and 12% Gibbston, fermented with a portion of whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 35% new French oak."
Rebecca Gibb MW, January 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Nutty, woody notes overlay the bright juicy red and black fruit. Supple and mellifluous mid palate but never heavy; followed by a crunchy, crisp and chalky conclusion reflects the cooler season."
