"Retasted in April 2019, the 2016 vintage was made almost entirely (99.5 per cent) from Merlot and matured for 14 months in oak barrels (25 per cent new). Deeply coloured, it is mouthfilling, sweet-fruited and supple, with generous, vibrant, plummy, nutty flavours, a hint of liquorice and a smooth finish. Drink now or cellar."

"Full, even, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is full and voluminous with aromas of ripe dark-red and black plums along with blackberries entwined with sweet and spicy oak vanillins, unfolding a fine layer of dark herbs and earthy complexities. The aromatics grow in density with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has richly packed and sweetly concentrated flavours of ripe black plums along with blackberried fruits, revealing notes of dark herbs, earth, sweet and spicy oak vanillins. The fruit flavours are mouthfilling and possesses good presence, and are supported by fine-grained tannin structure with integrated, balanced acidity. The flavours show some robustness and flow with good energy to a smooth-textured finish. This is a richly packed and softly concentrated Merlot with ripe black plum and berry fruit along with spices and oak, and herbs and earth on a fine-textured palate. Match with roasted and grilled lamb, beef and venison over the next 6 years. A blend of 99.5% Merlot and 0.5% Cabernet Franc, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 20% new oak."
