Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Dark cherry, violet, and cinnamon spice aromas complement red fruits, chocolate, and subtle spice flavours on the palate. The fruit flavours are framed with supple tannins and a core of juicy acidity.
The Southern Valleys are located directly south of Wairau Valley and are known for clay-based soils and cooler evening temperatures during the critical ripening period. Some of the oldest hillside Pinot Noir plantings in Marlborough are found in this sub-region. These high-density plantings experience the perfect conditions for producing intense, unique, and memorable Pinot Noir wines."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"A gorgeous elegant style with ripe cherry, dried herb, almond and dark mushroom notes, it's refined and flowing on the palate with fine layers of texture and savoury nuances. Old World inspired and seductively complex. At its best: now to 2026."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 vintage was matured in French oak barrels (56 per cent new). Retasted in August 2021, it is bright ruby, fragrant and supple, in a medium-bodied style with ripe cherry, plum, spice and nutty oak flavours, showing good depth and complexity, and gentle tannins. A graceful red, it is still fresh and youthful. Best drinking mid-2022+."
