Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Luminous peach/copper hue, with a reassuring, organic, light haze. Lifted floral aromas leap out of the glass along with burnt orange rind and a nutty complexity. Lovely fine phenolics fill the mouth giving great weight and texture to the wine. Orange rind, peach and Negroni like flavours follow. A great wine to accompany a variety of tapas-style foods."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"Wonderfully complex and fragrant, the bouquet shows orange peel, thyme, anise and candid apple notes, leading to a beautifully weighted palate that is richly textured and flavoursome. The wine offers impressive power and intensity, complemented by expansive mouthfeel and fine, polished tannins, providing the classic 'orange' wine structure and length. At its best: now to 2022."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 vintage was hand-harvested in the Porter Vineyard, at Waipara, tank-fermented, lees-aged for six months in seasoned French oak demi-muids, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The label makes no mention of grape varieties, but given its copper-coloured skins, Pinot Gris would be a good guess. Full-bodied, it’s a complex wine, with gentle tannins, strong strawberry, watermelon and peach flavours, and hints of spices, apricots and oranges. A very harmonious wine with good personality, it’s already drinking well."
88/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"Copper orange hues in the glass with aromas and flavours of apricot and marmalade, saffron and saline soaked apple. Weighty, firm, crisp and dry on the palate with a texture that transitions quickly from silk to satin to tannin rich and dry. Some fruit flavours return adding length to the finish. Well made, an intriguing wine. For me best enjoyed with dishes such as like Paella or Hangi Pork and Puha. Drink all once the bottle is open. Best from today and through 2022."
