Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"30 year old vines planted on red-metal soils, in the Bridge Pa triangle, farmed meticulously by friend, mentor, and inspiration, Chris Howell. A luscious, but diligent vintage.

Hand-picked, 100% destemmed, transferred by gravity to tank. Ambient soak of 4 days, then inoculated with a vineyard-sourced pied de cuve. Warm (27C) fermentation, 27.5 day cuvaison. Natural, spring malolactic. Twelve months on original lees in used French oak barrels, predominantly hogsheads (350L); bottled unfined and unfiltered with a touch of sulphur pre bottling. 14% alcohol, 290 cases produced.

Deep, luminous, very dark ruby. Toasted spices – cinnamon, cumin, coriander seed – and fresh raspberry coulis; also a note of balsam. Lifted and already expressive. Almost North African in its flavour profile: pomegranate, copious spice, black olive, dried orange peel. Less richly fruity than previous vintages, presenting a fine, complex touch. This will be fascinating to match with food, given its elegant, multifaceted nature."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2015 Vintage)
"The classy 2015 vintage was hand-picked from 30 year-old vines in the Bridge Pa Triangle, matured in seasoned French oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Sturdy (14.5 per cent alcohol), it has deep, bright, purple-flushed colour. Still youthful, it is concentrated, with lovely ripeness and depth of blackcurrant and plum flavours, buried tannins, and excellent vigour and harmony. Drink now-2023."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"This is plum, fleshy and delicious, delivering blackcurrant, dark cherry, thyme, cocoa and cedar aromas on the nose, followed by a powerful yet refined palate that is wonderfully weighted and generously textured. Magnificently ripe, silky and persistent. At its best: now to 2025."

94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Quite perfumed, floral and elegant with sweet violets, sweet cherry and black current and berries of the forest. Dry on the palate with fine grained tannins, medium+ acidity and flavours that reflect the nose; layers of fruit spice and barrel use, a light savoury and dry stone mineral layer, quite complex and elegant yet still youthful. Drink from late 2018 and through 2026."
