Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"This Rosé comes from three vineyards but predominantly from the Clark Vineyard which sits at 400 metres above sea level on a gentle north-facing slope. A cool high-altitude site that delivers the best of Gibbston. A small amount of Bannockburn and Queensberry fruit was blended in to build complexity. The fruit was handpicked then whole bunch pressed. The resulting juice was clean racked for cool batch fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation was stopped at very close to complete dryness to build palate weight rather than leave any sweetness.
Pale pink with clear hues. Highly aromatic with strawberry, raspberry, melon, pineapple, guava and a touch of vanilla and candy. Dry and juicy with fresh and vibrant raspberry, pear, red apple, cranberry and blackcurrant. Alluring and complex with a good acid drive and a crisp red fruit finish."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Vibrant and instantly appealing, the bouquet shows sweet raspberry, watermelon and floral characters, leading to a juicy palate that is lively and mouth-watering. It is pristine and bright, delivering plenty of tasty flavours, finishing long and attractive. At its best: now to 2020."
93/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, November 2011 (2018 Vintage)
"Slightly deeper pink than its sister label, Luminaire, with more flavour and slightly elevated acidity, which gives the wine a mouth-tingling finish. A bright, high energy wine with subtlety and charm. Drink 2018 – 2021."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Raymond Chan, November 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Bright, pale peach-pink colour with some depth, lighter on the edge. The nose has a finely concentrated, elegant, but intense aromas of strawberries, watermelon and pomegranate along with fragrant red florals and mouthwatering minerals, forming a deep core with detail and interest. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has rich fruit flavours of strawberries, pomegranate and watermelon forming a well-concentrated heart with good depth. The fruit has plenty of energy and drive with a little alcoholic power underlining the wine, and the wine flows smoothly along a seamless line with lacy, thirst-quenching acidity adding to the freshness. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering, nuanced finish of red fruits and florals. This is a rich and concentrated dry rosé with strawberry and floral depth, energy and drive on a seamless palate with mouthwatering acidity. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and tapas over the next 2 years. Pinot Noir fruit, predominantly from the ‘Clark’ vineyard in Gibbston with small amounts of Bannockburn and Queensberry fruit, hand-picked and WBP, and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS. 929 cases made."
