Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Our First Edition Pinot Noir comes from three vineyards. It’s predominantly from the Clark and Gibbston Back Road Vineyards in Gibbston with a small portion of Queensberry fruit. The fruit was carefully hand harvested, destemmed without crushing to open top fermenters. The skins were plunged daily pre- and post- fermentation and twice daily during the peak of fermentation. The wine was aged in a mix of stainless steel tanks and French oak barriques.

Deep purple with purple hues. Fragrant with violets, black cherry, blackberry, red plum, redcurrant, tamarillo, toffee, cinnamon, spice and char. Sweet and juicy red fruit entry with raspberry, black cherry and plum notes. Silky textured with layers of complexity and hints of mushroom, coffee, leather and tobacco. The finish is long with ripe red fruit and good minerality."

93/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2018 Vintage)
"Youthful, fruity, fresh and bright with aromas and flavours of cherry and red apple, some rose and earthy mineral complexity. Dry on the palate with little to no impact of oak, fine fruit tannins and youthful acidity bite. Persistent salivating flavours, a tease of complexity and lengthy finish. A lovely wine, balanced and well made. Drink 2018 – 2022."

92/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, November 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Providore's first pinot noir to be bottled from the 2018 vintage is predominantly made from Gibbston grapes. It's a fresh, fruit-focused pinot noir, with vibrant dark berry and crushed herb flavours plus a subtle wood-smoke influence. A deliciously approachable wine."

4 Stars & Best Buy Cuisine Pinot Noir Tasting, April 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"Vibrant, generous and delicious. Everything that we want in a juicy young Pinot Noir. The clove and nutmeg spices reminiscent of Christmas cake accompany the floral red fruits that provide a sweet mouthfeel and a rich finish."

4 Stars & 18.0+/20 Raymond Chan, November 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Dark, even ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is elegantly proportioned with deeply packed and dense aromas of dark-red berry fruit and dark plums entwined with dark herbs and spicy notes, unfolding a little primary confectionary perfume and lift. Medium-full bodied, the palate is sweet and juicy with plush, but stylishly restrained flavours of ripe, dark-red berry fruit with dark plum notes, unfolding dark herbs and spices with a little jam. The palate is smooth with fine-grained tannin in support lending some structure and grip. The acidity is balanced and the wine carries with energy to a sweet, plush, lingering finish. This is a sweet, luscious and juicy dark-red berry and plummy Pinot Noir with herb, spice and jammy detail on a smooth, supple-textured palate. Match with roasted and barbecued red meats over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones Abel, 5, 6, 667, 777 and 115, predominantly from the ‘Clark’ and ‘Gibbston Back Road’ vineyards in Gibbston with a small portion from Queensberry, fully destemmed but not crushed and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in tank and French oak barriques. 1,500 cases made."

91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Beautifully fruited and attractively expressed, the bouquet shows dark plum, black cherry, floral and mixed spice aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is vibrant and flavoursome. The wine delivers silky mouthfeel and lingering tasty flavours. Highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2022."
