Winery notes (2013 Vintage)
"Peter Lehmann mentored countless people over his 50-year career, and this wine is named in his honour. Great Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon has layers of texture and flavour. By drawing fruit from a number of Barossa sub-regions – each with their own unique terroir – Mentor Cabernet captures immense varietal definition with added complexity of old vine, low-yielding fruit matured in 100% French oak barrels.
This is our best cabernet of vintage and is a limited release showing great depth of colour, rich blackcurrant flavours together with a firm, fine grained tannin finish – a wine of great concentration and style which can be cellared with confidence."
93/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, March 2018 (2013 Vintage)
"Maturing, chocolaty style with layers of dark fruit, a little spice, supple tannin and some tobacco savouries. Flows along very well, and finishes long and rich with the sweetness of liquorice. Very nice."
Reviews for the 2012 vintage below…
96/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion, July 2015 (2012 Vintage)
"Finishes its fermentation and is matured in French hogsheads for 18 months. The varietal expression is faultless, redolent of black fruits corralled by some bramble and savoury tannins on the finish. A very good vintage for cabernet – indeed all red wines – in the Barossa Valley if the alcohol is controlled. Drink by: 2037"
94/100 Natalie Maclean (2012 Vintage)
"A remarkably fragrant Cabernet with vibrant colour and a mind-blowing velvet texture on the palate. Rich, supple and full-bodied with aromas of dark fruit and smoke. Pair with duck or game meats."
