Trophy for Champion Pinot Gris – Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2020
Gold Medal – Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2020
Peregrine Wines seem to be making a habit of winning trophies in recent times having picked up a trifecta of trophies late last year at the New Zealand Wine of the Year Awards 2019 and are doing it again with their Saddleback Pinot Gris 2019 at the recently announced Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2020. They are obviously doing something right and the proof is in the pudding right here with this delicious wee number.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"A dry Pinot Gris with lovely apricot and ginger aromatics. Fresh flavours of pear and nougat combine with stonefruit and spice in this delicious cool climate Pinot Gris with subtle flavours and a bright acidity.
Grapes for this wine are sourced from the Bendigo (39%), Pisa (34%) and Gibbston (27%) sub regions of Central Otago."
Reviews for the 2018 vintage below…
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"Instantly appealing, the 2018 vintage is a tank-fermented wine, blended from Bendigo (39 per cent), Pisa (34 per cent) and Gibbston (27 per cent) grapes. Briefly lees-aged, it is intensely varietal, with mouthfilling body, vibrant, concentrated pear, peach and lychee flavours, fractional sweetness (4.5 grams/litre of residual sugar), finely balanced acidity and a floral bouquet."
