Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Variable weather over flowering resulted in a moderate fruit set. The subsequent warm summer then allowed the grapes to ripen beautifully. Late season conditions were favourable for the development of noble botrytis, essential for the production of this wine style.
The wine is golden in colour, with intense notes of stone fruit, beeswax, pineapple and passionfruit. Layered beneath there are also hints of brioche, hazelnut, marmalade and butterscotch. Botrytis has resulted in a mouth feel that is rich and unctuous. The Semillon contributes structure and length, while the Sauvignon component adds refreshing acidity to ensure the wine remains perfectly balanced."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"A wine of strong presence, the 2017 vintage is a golden, honey-sweet North Canterbury wine, made in the classic Sauternes style. French oak-aged for 18 months, it has a fragrant, gently honeyed bouquet. Full-bodied, it has rich, apricot-like flavours, showing lovely complexity, poise and vigour. Best drinking 2022+."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Super rich and opulent, the wine shows dried apricot, Manuka honey, orange peel and toasted spice aromas on the nose, leading to a wonderfully concentrated palate that’s fabulously sweet and creamy. It’s lavishly expressed with a lengthy delicious finish. Made from botrytised sauvignon blanc and semillon; matured in barriques. At its best: now to 2025."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Deeply golden hues lead to aromas and flavours of apricots and quince, caramelised apple and bees-wax and with moments of tropical flowers and manuka honey the bouquet is intense and seductive. Full-bodied, creamy, intense and very sweet. With contrasting acidity the sweetness calms to reveal a deliciously sweet wine with integrated oak spices and natural fruit spice, some sultana and baked custard. Long finish, immensely satisfying and well made. Drink now and through 2027+."
94/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, October 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Portuguese tart, dried pineapple, passionfruit pulp in syrup, walnuts, slight sweet grass and herb. Unctuous but with punch of Sauvignon green and a solid acid cut, marmalade and quince paste, spice and apricot nectar. Long and sweet, but bright and clean too. Nicely done."

5 Stars & 97/100 Bob Campbell MW, March 2018 (2014 Vintage)
"Aromatic wine with honeycomb and passionfruit on the nose. Very sweet wine with an almost syrupy texture balanced by a backbone of fine, fruity acidity that prevents any sense of cloying. Layers of dried fruits, spice and exotic tropical fruit flavours add dimension and complexity. A pure and powerful wine that shows the benefit of a little bottle age. Drink 2018 to 2022."
