Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Settled weather over flowering provided a healthy fruit set, which was then thinned back to desired levels. The ensuing summer was dry with very little rain, resulting in perfectly ripened small berries full of intense flavour and concentration. Thankfully, our harvest was able to proceed during the C-19 lockdown, and an unbroken autumn full of warm days meant each variety was picked at its optimum ripeness.
On release the colour is lemon-straw. The bouquet is a zesty fusion of quince, citrus blossom, lemon meringue and green apple, cloaked in a spicy mineral underlay. In the mouth the experience is also multi-layered, displaying both richness and precision, texture and poise. Charming sweetness is backed by refreshing acidity and a hint of spritzig that creates a vibrant tension, ensuring the wine remains perfectly balanced with a fresh and lively finish. 70 g/L RS."
93/100 James Suckling, October 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Perfumed nose of white peaches, honeysuckle, apple blossom, lemon curd, marmalade and honey. Full-bodied and sweet, yet fresh, with sharp acidity and bright, zesty character. Excellent balance."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"Estate-grown at Waipara, the delicious 2018 vintage is packaged in a full-sized (750-ml) bottle. Bright, light yellow/green, it has rich, ripe, peachy flavours, sweet but not super-sweet, a hint of honey, and notable depth and harmony. It should be long-lived, but is already a lovely mouthful."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"Offering opulence as well as sophistication, this gorgeously styled wine shows mango, mandarin, Manuka honey and fragrant spice aromas on the nose, followed by a richly expressed palate exhibiting plush mouthfeel and creamy texture, wonderfully enhanced by delicious sweetness and refreshing acidity. At its best: now to 2030."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"Pure, ripe, varietal and enticing bouquet with aromas of sweet lemon and red apple, honeysuckle, quince and blossoms. Silky smooth textures are contrasted by an intense acidity. After this subsides the flavours of honeyed stone fruits and preserved citrus begin to emerge. Flavours of honey suckle and dried apple, quince and roses follow. A delicious wine well suited to spices first courses and of course dessert menu items and cheese. Best drinking upon purchase and through 2030+."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 NZ Wine Rater, March 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Deep straw colour. Boasting a voluminous, heady, heavily botrytised, Beerenauslese-style bouquet with a diverse aroma profile of tangelo, mandarin, Cointreau, beeswax and clove notes. A luscious, opulent, viscous, full-bodied botrytis style with enough acid to balance the richness. Well done."
5 Stars & 19.5-/20 (97) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan, April 2021 (2018 Vintage)
"Bright, pale yellow-gold, even colour throughout. Brilliant aroma on the nose, gently-opening, nuances of ginger, honeysuckle, melded with apricot, mandarin, orange marmalade. Medium-bodied, sweet to taste, enticing aromas of apricot, mandarin and lime have a pure core, orange zest and marmalade unveil, along with honey, honeysuckle and a lasting hint of ginger. The wine is refreshing and uncloying, supported by mouthwatering acidity, carry this flavoursome nectar through the palate with ease. Botrytis affected grapes contribute to the concentration of flavour, flaunting lush fruit and richness. This has a less than usual 72 g/l RS for Aria (usually 120 g/l RS), bringing a brilliantly refreshing palate with the usual complexity. Match with chicken liver parfait and bacon butty for your guilty pleasure over the next 10+ years. Late-harvested Riesling, selected bunches with between 30-50% botrytis, fermented cool to 11% alc."
