80% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10% Mourvèdre
Since the early 19th Century, Paul Jaboulet Ainé has been synonymous with quality wine in the Rhône Valley. Jaboulet’s Hermitages – white and red – and most of their upper wines – are the stuff of legend. The famous Rhone winery was bought by the Frey family in 2006. The Freys, owners of Chateau la Lagune in Bordeaux, saw the potential of the vineyards. They brought renewed energy to this corner of France and to one of its greatest names."

"Les Cedres is produced from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10% Mourvèdre. On average, the vines are more than 50 years of age. 30% is sourced from Jaboulet domaine fruit. Yields are low, even for Chateauneuf, at 30 hl/ha, creating greater a wine of greater concentration and intensity.
The different terroirs that make up the wine represent the diversity of soils found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Grenache comes from pebbly clay and limestone terraces, the Mourvèdre is grown on more sandy soils and the Cinsault is grown on the famed galets of the region.
The wines are 100% aged in aged for 12 months in large, used, French oak cuves tronconiques of around 150 hl.
Deep garnet colour with brick-red rim. Mature nose with earthy notes of dried plums, tobacco and spicy oak. Medium-to-full bodied, well balanced with powerful flavours of dried plums, tobacco, sweet liquorice and spicy oak. Great harmony, smooth mouthfeel and a long finish."
