Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Pale lemon hue with aromas of citrus zest, nutmeg and freshly squeezed meyer lemon. The palate is taut and youthful with great synergy showing between the acidity, punchy citrus fruit and silky texture. A classic cool climate Chardonnay with tremendous energy and freshness that is rounded out by a judicious use of oak adding length and shape to the wine. This is a racy young wine that will reward patience now as it changes beautifully in the glass and also later as it develops in the bottle.
This Chardonnay was made with care to reflect its Bannockburn origins – a magical subregion that is known for serious and enduring wine. A perfect Chardonnay for those times of contemplation and equally for those moments when you don 't want to take life too seriously.
The wine was fermented and aged in fine grain French oak barriques (20% new) for 9 months with minimal stirring to aid the malolactic fermentation."

"Stylish and refined, this gorgeous chardonnay shows apricot, fig, nougat and roasted hazelnut characters with a hint of oatmeal complexity. The palate displays excellent weight and persistency backed by silky texture and beautifully pitched acidity, finishing impressively long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2026."

"Drinking well from now onwards, the 2019 vintageis a fresh and lively, single-vineyard wine, hand-picked at Bannockburn, and fermented and matured for nine months in French oak barriques (20 per cent new). Pale straw, it is fragrant and full-bodied, with good concentration of stonefruit flavours, biscuity and toasty notes adding complexity, and a lingering, slightly creamy finish."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Fine, complex and alluring bouquet with aromas of ripe white fleshed stone fruits, citrus and softly spoken barrel spices. There’s a layer of minerality within the bouquet suggesting crushed wet rock. On the palate – tense, youthful, fresh, fruity and varietal. Flavours of peach and apple, lemon and grapefruit, some quince then vanilla custard and mild toasty wood flavours. Textures from fine wood tannins and acidity along with medium alcohol form a strong foundation for the core of fruit and flavours to float upon. Lovely drinking today. Ideal drinking from late 2021 through 2026+."

"This new vintage carries the Neck of the Woods trademark white nectarine, grapefruit and green apple characters that I’ve become a fan of. It’s lightly styled, with a crystalline, mineral backbone and a seam of creamy complexity, and when I learned it was crafted by the incredibly talented Jen Parr, it did not surprise me. Hand harvested Bannockburn fruit at play here, meaning it’s clean as a whistle and all about the fruit, yet there’s a layer of toastiness from a 9 month maturation period in mostly older French oak. Bright, vibrant, spicy, steely and citrus-forward, it’d roar with caesar salad."
