Nautilus have been making great wines in Marlborough for many years and in 2000 they built a specialist gravity flow winery especially for Pinot Noir. This dedication to the variety shows through with the resulting Pinot Noir wines which are consistently some of Marlborough and New Zealand's best.
Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"The 2016 Nautilus Pinot Noir is dark ruby in colour. The nose reveals lifted floral aromas, ripe wild blackberries, cherries and spices. The palate is medium bodied with good structure. Refined and balanced, this elegant wine shows good intensity and a lengthy finish."
5 Stars & 95/100 Huon Hooke, The Real Review, January 2020 (2016 Vintage)
"The Wairau Valley is the original part of Marlborough, but the southern valleys have emerged as the best source of pinot noir red wines. This has good depth of colour and palate weight and richness. Dark cherry, charcuterie and smoked-meat aromas, nicely ripe and lavishly oaked. A serious pinot."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2016 Vintage)
"The fresh, graceful 2016 vintage was matured in French oak barrels (30 per cent new). Fragrant and full-bodied, with strong, vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing excellent depth, ripeness, complexity and harmony, it should be at its best for drinking 2020+."
92/100 & Cellar Selection, Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast, July 2019 (2016 Vintage)
"This is an attractive, multi-faceted Pinot Noir that beautifully balances fruit and funk. Aromas of wet earth and barnyard are quickly followed by bright cherries, raspberries, flowers and herbs. These characters follow through on the palate, wrapped in tight-grained, sandy tannins and a sappy woodiness. Still youthful, you could drink this now with food but it should really blossom over the next eight years. Drink through 2026."

5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and deeply savoury, this gratifying pinot shows dark berry, game, dried herb, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is beautifully weighted and plush. The wine is rounded and silky, and offers excellent depth of flavour, wonderfully framed by fine, chalky tannins. At its best: now to 2023."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Fragrant, varietal, youthful and enticing bouquet of Pinot with ripe red berry fruit aromas – cherry then red apple skin, raspberry then oak spices of vanilla and clove, a touch of bacon. On the palate – youthful, firm, ripe red fruit flavours and oak, chalky tannins and great core of complexity and intrigue. Best from 2018 through 2028."
