Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"The 2015 Nautilus Pinot Noir is dark ruby in colour. The nose reveals gentle floral aromas, ripe wild blackberries, cherries and spices. The palate is medium bodied with good structure. Refined and balanced, this elegant wine shows good intensity and a lengthy finish."
5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, October 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Bright, fresh and elegant pinot noir with dark cherry, wood smoke, liquorice, violet and spicy oak flavours. An appealing wine with energy and drive. Reasonably accessible now but should develop well in bottle."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and deeply savoury, this gratifying pinot shows dark berry, game, dried herb, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that is beautifully weighted and plush. The wine is rounded and silky, and offers excellent depth of flavour, wonderfully framed by fine, chalky tannins. At its best: now to 2023."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Fragrant, varietal, youthful and enticing bouquet of Pinot with ripe red berry fruit aromas – cherry then red apple skin, raspberry then oak spices of vanilla and clove, a touch of bacon. On the palate – youthful, firm, ripe red fruit flavours and oak, chalky tannins and great core of complexity and intrigue. Best from 2018 through 2028."
93/100 & Editors' Choice, Wine Enthusiast, March 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"This wine combines so much of what we've come to love about New Zealand Pinot. It's light and bright but serious too, with plenty of site expression. Raspberry and blueberry compote, violets, baking spices and sun-baked stones all dance together on the nose. There's plush fruit on the palate but a savouriness too, framed by sinewy tannins and finishing on a stoney, mineral note."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2015 Vintage)
"The 2015 vintage was matured in French oak casks (30 per cent new). Deep ruby, with a slightly earthy bouquet, it is mouthfilling, sweet-fruited and supple, with generous cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing very good complexity. It's already drinking well."
18.5/20 Joelle Thomson, Drinks Biz Magazine, June 2019 (2015 Vintage)
"Marlborough’s southern valleys are home to some of the best Pinot Noir vineyards in the South Island, thanks to north facing slopes, slight elevation (more sun, free draining) and soils that retain moisture on hot, dry days. This is a full-bodied Pinot made from six different clones of Pinot Noir, including the much vaunted Abel clone. All grapes were hand harvested and about 10 percent of them were whole bunch fermented to add structure, spicy flavours and weight to this superb wine. It’s three years old, drinking beautifully now but has a long life ahead – up to 10 years and potentially beyond."
4 Stars Yvonne Lorkin, March 2018 (2015 Vintage)
"Blended from a selection of Nautilus Wairau Valley vineyard sites, this is delicately scented, and elegantly poised on the palate. It is seriously smooth and supple, with red fruits like pomegranate, raspberry, red cherry and redcurrant just peaking their pretty faces above the core of savoury, earthy flavours. Soft, plush and perfect with duck liver parfait."
