Winery notes (2014 Vintage)
"This wine has a lifted floral and red fruit character on the nose with hints of spice. The palate is full and long with an assertive tannin structure."

5 Stars & Top 10 Cuisine Pinot Noir Tasting, April 2017 (2014 Vintage)
"John Belsham admired the “lovely pure florals" and Ben Glover praised the "red leaf notes and vibrancy". Winemaker Clive Jones has crafted a complex expression, with seductive dark fruit sitting over a herbal, minerally underlay. It flows elegantly and finishes long and fine."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2014 Vintage)
"Grown in the upper Awatere Valley, the debut 2014 vintage is a single-vineyard red, matured in French oak casks (33 per cent new). Full ruby, it is very finely textured, with rich, vibrant plum, spice and dried-herb flavours, gentle tannins and a long finish. Already lovely, but also age-worthy, with a sense of youthful drive, it should be at its best 2018+."

95/100 Decanter 2017 (2014 Vintage)
"Ripe aromas of strawberry and plum. Soft, fleshy palate of hedgerow fruit with ripe tannins and a lingering fruity finish."

5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2014 Vintage)
"Made from 15-year-old vines grown on their vineyard, this is instantly appealing on the nose displaying dark cherry, truffle, plum, vanilla and nutmeg aromas on the nose with a fabulous floral lift, followed by a succulent palate that is plush and richly textured with gorgeous silky mouthfeel. The wine combines stunning fruit power with seductive savoury undertones, and finishes superbly long and delicious. At its best: 2017 to 2026."

5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, September 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Full, even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with garnet hues. The nose is very elegantly concentrated and refined in expression showing lifted, fragrant, bright dark-red berry and cherry fruit, red florals, red liquorice and a core of dark herbs and subtle, savoury, whole bunch stalk suggestions. Medium-full bodied, the palate features fresh, bright and aromatic dark-red berry and cherry fruit lifted by fragrant red florals and complexed by subtle notes of fresh herbs. The palate grows in richness, forming a plush and lusciously concentrated core enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, with fine-grained tannin support. This has finesse, fragrance and focus, and the wine leads to a long and sustained finish of red berry and cherry fruit along with aromatic florals. This is a beautifully aromatic, refined and fragrant Pinot Noir with dark red berry and cherry fruit, and a refreshing mouthfeel. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 5+ years. Clone 114, 667 and 777 fruit from the ‘Awatere River’ vineyard, vines 15 y.o., indigenous yeast fermented with 20% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 33% new French oak barriques."

4 1/2 Stars Yvonne Lorking, March 2018 (2014 Vintage)
"Nautilus’ Awatere River vineyard is a small, terraced site approximately 25 kilometres upstream on the north bank of the Awatere River and Pinot was planted there in 1999. Nineteen years on, those vines are turning out super-concentrated fruit that just dances into the bottle. Silky and seductive, there’s a sniff of toast from 11 months maturation in 33% new French oak barriques, yet the fruit is still very much the hero. Smooth and showing finely structured tannins, it’s drinking nicely indeed."
