Albariño is one of the most distinctive varieties from Spain and it is being touted as quite possibly the next big thing here in NZ. Nautilus do a fantastic job with it in Marlborough and the Nautilus Albariño with its delicious flavours and textures is incredibly compelling.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"On the nose, the 2021 vintage shows fragrant white peaches, white florals, with hints of ginger and ripe citrus. The palate is flavoursome and fleshy with a refreshing zingy finish.
This is a limited edition, single vineyard wine. Albariño, one of the most distinctive varieties from Spain, is a recent introduction to the pristine wine growing region of Marlborough.
Fruit was hand picked and chilled overnight before being destemmed and crushed prior to pressing. The racked and clarified juice was then cool fermented in a stainless steel tank using an aromatic yeast. A short period of maturation on yeast lees followed prior to bottling."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"This consistently classy, single-vineyard wine is handled without oak. Still unfolding, the vigorous 2021 vintage is a bright, light yellow/green, mouthfilling wine, with intense, citrusy, peachy, spicy flavours, dry (3 grams/litre of residual sugar) and lingering. Best drinking mid-2022+."
