Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"This varietally expressive Sauvignon Blanc has gooseberry aromas with tropical fruit flavours. The palate shows good weight and fruit concentration with fine acidity and texture followed by a crisp citrus finish. Full of life and flavour."

Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Distinctive power and pungency with scents of fresh herbs and mineral-laden stony soil, citrus and tropical fruits, and white peach. A satin touch with contrasting core of acidity then flavours of citrus and white fleshed orchard fruits then fresh herbs and white spice. The mineral quality remains persistent adding to a quality finish. Best drinking from 2023 through 2027."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2023 (2023 Vintage)
"Intensely aromatic and inviting, the bouquet shows green rockmelon, feijoa, lime zest and jasmine aromas, leading to a fabulously tasty palate offering vibrant fruit flavours with refreshing acidity, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2026."

4 Stars Michael Cooper (2023 Vintage)
"Priced sharply, the 2023 vintage is a single-vineyard wine, tank-fermented and briefly lees-aged. Bright, light lemon/green, it is punchy, with mouthfilling body and fresh, crisp passionfruit, lime and green capsicum flavours, showing very good vigour and length."

  • Mount Brown Estates is located in the foothills of Waipara Valley's Mount Brown, in the North Canterbury wine region.
  • From truly humble beginnings (a small abandoned vineyard overgrown with waist-high weeds), Tony Rutherford and his daughter Catherine Keith have since turned their once-daunting vision into reality, now boasting three award-winning vineyards and a winery.
  • Mount Brown Estates keeps their whole process—from grape to bottle—in-house, to be able to ensure desired quality standards. This was made possible when they built their winery and bottling line on the Lime Loader vineyard in 2013.
  • The foundation for their success is built on their gold medal-winning Riesling and Pinot Noir.
  • A wide-ranging recognition is increasingly coming from their Pinot Gris, which is perfectly suited to the North Canterbury terroir.
