Since building their own winery in 2013, the wines of Mount Brown have been going from strength to strength with much show success and great reviews across a number of varieties and, it would seem, an ever growing following out there in the marketplace. The 2021 Pinot Gris is just off-dry in style with plenty of fruit packed into it. Subtle honey notes and cleansing acidity give it great persistence. Delicious drinking and really sharply priced!
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"This delicious wine has upfront fruit with lovely pear and peach flavours. Some subtle quince and spice notes add to the complexity. Some residual sugar (7g) results in a medium-full palate with great texture."
91/100 Cameron Douglas MS, December 2021 (2021 Vintage)
"Bright, fresh, fruity, plush, youthful and exotic bouquet with aromas of fresh and baked apple, green pear, citrus and mineral. A silky texture touches the palate first in a just dry expression. A whisper of residual sweetness highlights flavours of white fleshed fruits and citrus, some white spice and warming alcohol. Balanced and well made with some refreshing acidity. Best drinking from 2021 through 2024."
Rated Top Value & 90/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, March 2022 (2021 Vintage)
"It’s a bright, refreshing pinot gris with classic pear, honeysuckle, stewed apple and subtle clove-like flavours. Made in an off-dry style with a hint of sweetness perfectly balancing fresh acidity. Excellent value at this price."
Michael Cooper (2021 Vintage)
"Offering good value, the easy-drinking 2021 vintage was made with some use of oak (15 per cent of the blend was handled in old barrels). Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouthfilling, with fresh, peachy, slightly spicy flavours, gentle sweetness (7 grams/litre of residual sugar), and very good depth and harmony."

"It's immediately appealing on the nose showing apricot, poached pear, rockmelon and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers terrific fruit intensity and richly textured mouthfeel, beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2023."
