"Since 1978, Morton Estate has produced exceptional wines from New Zealand's finest wine regions, with the Black Label wines representing the pinnacle of the range." .. so says the back label. This vintage of Morton Estate Black Label Chardonnay has been made with premium Gisborne fruit and retains the same power and richness that this label has long been associated with. Add in a touch of Gisborne opulence from an excellent vintage and we have something pretty special.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Full, rich and toasty with hints of butterscotch and grilled stone-fruit. A complex balanced wine, this seamlessly textured creamy Chardonnay has great finesse."

4 Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"This label was for decades indivisibly associated with the Hawke's Bay region, but since 2016 has been grown in Gisborne. The 2018 vintage is an extroverted style, fresh and full-bodied, with generous, ripe, peachy flavours, seasoned with toasty oak, balanced acidity and a slightly buttery finish. Best drinking 2020+."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"It is beautifully fruited and inviting on the nose showing apricot, rockmelon, vanilla and roasted hazelnut characters. The palate is succulent and supple, delivering bright fruit flavours together with creamy texture and well-balanced acidity, finishing persistent and silky. A well-proportioned chardonnay offering generosity as well as elegance. At its best: now to 2021."
5 Stars, Best Buy & Number 2, Cuisine Chardonnay Tasting, September 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"A wonderfully sincere wine with multi-faceted layers of flavours. Genuine fruit ripeness is underscored by flavours of a nutty baked custard, toasty oak and a hint of nutmeg. Creamy and rich, the wine is very textural with a lovely flowing yet dry finish making it very memorable."
