Tasty French Chardonnay that fits the budget

In stock

From the Langedoc region of the south of France comes this Chardonnay which is bursting with personality and flavour. We are particularly taken with this new 2017 vintage release, noting its grilled peach, grapefruit, savoury nutty flavours that make it quite new worldly in style yet with that certain 'je n'ais se quoi' that can only be French.

Reviews for the 2016 vintage below…

Winery notes (2016 Vintage)
"This classic Burgundian variety has been produced in the sunny climate of Languedoc in the south of France. Although much warmer than the cool climate of the Côte d'Or great care has been taken to ensure that it is every bit as elegant. A bright yellow gold hue and seductive scents of blossom and cinnamon spice. A remarkable melange of pears, peach, honey toffee, cream and vanilla (from a short spell of oak ageing) on the palate. Beautifully balanced with ripeness, acidity, length and real structure. A very classy Chardonnay."

Paul Tudor MW,, May 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"This has to be the best-value chardonnay on the market — it is not a big, blockbuster style, but rather a creamy, complex wine with a fresh, dry finish. The fruit is a combination of ripe grapefruit and pineapple, there is a hint of caramelly oak, but nothing too obvious, while the palate is toasty and pithy. A chardonnay drinker’s chardonnay that doesn’t tire on you. Smart wine."

91/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Rich, creamy chardonnay with strong peach, ginger and bran biscuit flavour. It has a slightly rustic texture, although it’s a wine that will appeal to devotees of the “big & buttery” style. Offers value at this price."

Joelle Thomson (2016 Vintage)
"It’s under $20, it’s Chardonnay (the world’s most popular white grape and wine) and it rocks because it’s all about purity, freshness and succulent citrusy flavours (lemon, grapefruit and mandarin zest) and it has all those creamy bells and whistles too – a tasty little number that’s hard to beat."

4 Stars & 17.0/20 Raymond Chan, June 2017 (2016 Vintage)
"Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and gently concentrated with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, some nutty lees elements and chalky minerals. The aromatics are up-front with good volume and depth. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses moderately sweet and rich flavours of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit entwined with ripe herb and nutty lees elements. The mouthfeel is fresh and bright and the wine flows with good energy along a fine-textured, light line, leading to a refreshing, lingering stonefruited finish. This is a fresh, moderately sweet and rich fruited Chardonnay with stonefruit and nutty lees elements on a soft-textured palate. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 3 years. Chardonnay fruit from the Puisserguier vineyards in Saint Chinian, Languedoc, fermented to 12.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged on lees and 20% aged 3 months in French oak."
