Great follow-up to the 2018 Trophy winning Pinot Gris from Misty Cove. Although dry, this Pinot Gris has a fruity succulence – spiced pears and a hint of Turkish delight.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Misty Cove’s Pinot Gris is lovingly handcrafted and produced from our upper Wairau Valley vineyard where stony old river bed soils help create a floral and fleshy wine that truly captures Marlborough’s unique environment.
Marlborough’s famously rich soils give this Misty Cove Pinot Gris a fruit sweetness that's long and dry with hints of spice and Turkish delight on the nose. Enjoy this crisp drop when the sun is shining, along with great mates and good food. "The grapes are from two different vineyards in the Wairau and Awatare Valley. This means we get two different flavour profiles and we also pick them at different ripeness to give us better flavour profiles in the wine."
Six hours skin contact to enhance flavours and texture. Fermented at 11-13° with two selected yeasts and stopped at 4.5 g/L residual to produce an off-dry wine with more mouthfeel and structure."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"It is brilliantly bright and fresh on the nose showing fresh pear, rockmelon, mandarin and floral aromas, followed by a succulent palate that is pristine and flavoursome. The wine offers terrific fruit purity and intensity, while remaining elegant and harmonious. A gorgeous drink. At its best: now to 2021."
