Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"The 2019 Maude is sourced from Central Otago’s premium sub regions, each contributing to this savoury, complex Pinot Noir. Aromas of dark cherry, plum and dried herbs team up with a palate that displays layers of dark fruit flavours entwined with velvety but structural tannins.
Hand harvested from our Lowburn and Queensberry vineyards in Central Otago. Fermented very traditionally in open topped tanks, hand plunged, indigenous yeasts with a portion of whole bunch included in each fermenter. 18 – 28 days on skins for tannin development prior to pressing. Maturation in French barriques (30% new) for 10 months before bottling."

This is one of my top 10 2017 Central Otago Pinot Noirs and will age well too."

"A blend of grapes from the Sitting Bull vineyard just above the shore of Lake Dunstan, and the Fish Hook vineyard in the Queensbury subregion. Floral, cherry, plum, fresh herb and sappy flavours supported by fine, drying tannins. A distinctive and reasonably concentrated wine with character. Drink 2018 to 2023."

"Lowburn and Queensberry subregions. Winery in Wanaka. 30% whole-bunch fermentation with indigenous yeasts. 20 days on skins. Champion Pinot and Wine of Show in the former Air New Zealand wine awards. Pale black-purple. Blackberry and blueberry fruit with violet floral tones. Marked cedar and cinnamon oak, with some dark chocolate. Floral and herbal lift. Sappy, vibrant blackberry and herb, with juicy, brisk acidity. Light-medium, ripe tannins. Quite long."
