Matias Riccitelli is a madman in Mendoza. Young and full of energy, Matias is crafting a range of wines that are challenging many of the preconceptions of the Mendoza region. His wines are made with a gentle hand and show a more raw and unpolished side of the region. That is to say, his wines feel like they were grown, not made. In a sea of over-ripe, over-oaked Mendoza Malbec, they offer a refreshing change of pace.
Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"These old Malbec vines were planted during the first decades of the XX Century. They were planted (ungrafted) on clayey, stony and calcareous soils and they are located in Mendoza’s most traditional sites: 50% from Las Compuertas, 30% from Vistalba and 20% from La Consulta. Clusters are destemmed and they go down, in a natural way (gravity) to concrete vats. They ferment without any addition at a temperature between 26º to 28º Celsius during several weeks. Aging continues in French oak barrels for more than a year."

92/100 Wine Enthusiast (2014 Vintage)
"Exotic black-fruit aromas are more surface-level than deep. This well-built Malbec has lift and intensity on the palate. Dark, toasty black-fruit flavours are delicious but typical for this type of full-bodied Mendoza Malbec. Pastry notes, oak grain and char are the most distinct characteristics on a full-force finish. Drink through 2023."
