Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"The shining and golden hall in Norse Mythology where the souls of fallen Viking warriors chosen by Odin feasted with the gods, the name Valhalla is conferred upon our finest barrels of Chardonnay selected each vintage by our winemaker.
The 2019 Valhalla has a wealth of ripe aromas; nectarine and grapefruit with complex layers of baking bread, cashew and flinty reductive elements. Rich and fulsome on the palate, with a spine of acidity harmoniously interwoven with richness and a ripe citrus finish. The Valhalla 2019 is beautifully composed and magnificently styled, an iconic Chardonnay for the ages."

17.5/20 Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, February 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Richer, more tropical fruit with a sort of musky edge and excellent juiciness. Spice and flesh too – this is proper premier cru stuff, with all the sophistication and minerality (whatever that might be!) of great Chardonnay."
90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"There’s no mistaking the power and impact from this wine with aromas of cashew nut and whipped cream, roasted peaches and vanilla, smoky wood and brown baking spices. On the palate – full-bodied with a creamy texture, fruity reflecting the aromas from the bouquet. With the presented level of bottle-development this wine is ready to enjoy from today and through 2021."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Graceful and multi-layered, this compelling rendition offers lifted aromas of ripe stone fruit, mango, fig and toasted hazelnut characters with subtle notes of flint and jasmine. It is wonderfully concentrated and expansive on the palate, displaying opulent fruit richness together with creamy texture and savoury complexity, firmly structured by bright acidity. At its best: 2019 to 2025."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"This tightly structured wine is estate-grown at the remote, eastern end of Waiheke Island. Hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak casks, the highly refined 2017 vintage is light lemon/green, with a fragrant, complex, slightly smoky bouquet. Mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, it is sweet-fruited, with strong stone-fruit flavours, showing excellent delicacy and complexity, finely integrated oak, fresh acidity, and a long, very harmonious finish. Still youthful, it should be long-lived."
