Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"The shining and golden hall in Norse Mythology where the souls of fallen Viking warriors chosen by Odin feasted with the gods, the name Valhalla is conferred upon our finest barrels of Chardonnay selected each vintage by our winemaker."

5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Graceful and multi-layered, this compelling rendition offers lifted aromas of ripe stone fruit, mango, fig and toasted hazelnut characters with subtle notes of flint and jasmine. It is wonderfully concentrated and expansive on the palate, displaying opulent fruit richness together with creamy texture and savoury complexity, firmly structured by bright acidity. At its best: 2019 to 2025."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"This tightly structured wine is estate-grown at the remote, eastern end of Waiheke Island. Hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak casks, the highly refined 2017 vintage is light lemon/green, with a fragrant, complex, slightly smoky bouquet. Mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, it is sweet-fruited, with strong stone-fruit flavours, showing excellent delicacy and complexity, finely integrated oak, fresh acidity, and a long, very harmonious finish. Still youthful, it should be long-lived."

5 Stars & 19.0/20 Raymond Chan, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright, even, straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is softly full and voluminous with generous and up-front aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits along with nuances of citrus and tropical fruit melded with well-packed complexing aromas of gunflint reduction, creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak. This has depth and power. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and mouthfilling flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits with hints of citrus and tropical fruit, integrated with a fine, complex amalgam of nutty oak and flinty reduction. There is a suggestion of richness and creaminess from the barrel-ferment, which is balanced by bright, refreshing acidity. The wine carries with power and drive along a fine-textured line, leading to a long and sustained finish. This is a rich, mouthfilling and concentrated, complex Chardonnay with stonefruit, nutty oak and gunflint interest on a powerful palate. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 5-6+ years. A selection of the finest barrels. Fruit from the volcanic hillsides WBP, and fruit from the sheltered hillsides foot-stomped, then fully indigenous yeast barrel fermented with full solids to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 36% new French oak puncheons, with no batonnage and no MLF."
