“After our experience with the 2012 Bellerophon we were able to craft a wine from 2014 that will not only live up to the expectations created by the 2012 Bellerophon but will substantially exceed those expectations. The 2014 Bellerophon is classically structured with an intensely fragrant nose of violets, raspberries and white pepper. Careful management of the stem and Viognier components has resulted in a palate that is soft and elegant exhibiting flavours of ripe red berries. All of which is encased by the distinctive stem tannins giving a lifted freshness and lenght to the finish. The wine is incredibly approachable in its youth but will age gracefully developing more savoury earthy and smoked meat characters with time.”

Lush and sophisticated, and offers delectable fruit flavours with sensual mouthfeel and complexity. At its best: now to 2024.”

“Richer, sweet, spicier and more perfumed than the Dreadnought. This softer and more charming and accessible wine shows the benefit of having been co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier. “Designed as an alternative to Man O’ War’s more ‘robust’ Dreadnought Syrah, this is intended to be ‘more feminine, savoury, funky’, with 3 per cent Viognier included in the blend and limited use of new oak (25 per cent in 2014). The 2014 vintage is full-coloured, fragrant and supple, with strong, vibrant, plummy, spicy flavours, showing excellent complexity. Best drinking 2018+.”

“Dark, deep ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with deeply fragrant aromas of dark raspberry and blackberry fruit entwined with nutty oak elements unfolding dark-red and violet florals, with spices, game and savoury herb notes emerging with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a tightly bound and elegant core of dark raspberry and blackberry fruit harmoniously entwined with dark-red and violet florals. The fruit is supported by moderately extracted, fine-grained, flowery tannins with integrated acidity lending liveliness and drive. The mouthfeel has good energy and linearity, and the wine flows smoothly to an elegant, lingering finish of dark-red fruits, florals, spices and funky herb detail. This is an elegant, aromatic, fine-grained and smooth Syrah/Viognier blend with dark raspberry, floral and spicy flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 6-8 years. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier from 3 sites, co-fermented by indigenous yeasts with approx. 30% whole bunches of both varieties to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak.”
