The Yarra Junction Pinot Noir is the softest and perhaps the most generous of the 2018 suite of single vineyard wines from Mac Forbes. It feels like the vintage has given it an extra width, not something generally associated with Mac's exquisitely fine-boned Pinot Noir expression. The perfume is sweet and floral, the mouthfeel is light and devastatingly easy to drink. This is the crowd pleaser of the 2018s from Mac. It's the wine that you won't be able to keep your hands off.
Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Yarra Junction is our coolest site located in the far eastern Yarra Valley, next to Wesburn. Situated on gravelly soils, this north eastern site receives cooling influences off the surrounding mountains and is protected from the afternoon sun. Yarra Junction will appeal to those who prefer a more accessible style. It offers femininity and fragility almost within the context of a classic European Pinot."
94+/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, August 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"Raspberry, red cherry, aniseed and rose perfume, all so pretty. Soft, fine acid, squishy and perfumed red fruits, filigreed tannin, length is excellent. Will age very well I feel. You have to like them bony and tight, but there’s delicacy and wonderful perfume here to balance the ledger."
