Winery notes (2018 Vintage)
"Our Home Block sits beneath the magnificent Pisa Range in one of Central Otago’s most unique vineyard parcels. The rich soil derived from sensitive human cultivation over more than 150 years produces distinct characteristics in our wines, which are expressed through natural viticulture and winemaking techniques. These soils and the sheltered location help to create exceptional wines that have balance, harmony, complexity and depth of character.
Medium dark purple with pink hues. Dark black fruit, redcurrants, violets, oak char, leather and spice. Full bodied with sweet black plum and red cherries. Silky fine grained tannins with layers of complexity and juicy acidity. The finish is long with red fruit and toasty oak."

95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A captivating, youthful, fresh, fruity and gently savoury bouquet of Pinot Noir. Wild thyme, dark cherry, dried raspberry and black cherry aromas, dark spices of wood and wild forest flowers. Dry on the palate with chalky tannins, plenty of acidity and wood layers, tempered by a core of fruit and lengthy finish. Very youthful still needing cellar thyme. Best drinking from late 2021 through 2025+."
4 ½ Stars, Yvonne Lorkin, February 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Grown on land that was farmed for over 160 years meant these grapes benefitted from soils rich in organic matter and good old dirt development – very unusual for the mostly glacial, loess soils of Central Otago. The grapes are packed with flavour, flirtiness and spice saturation, all things that unveil red fruits, luscious, savoury textures and a rich yet silky profile on the finish. The acidity has lovely structure which binds the soft, elastic tannins and elongates its presence on the palate. Lovely stuff."
5 Stars & Number 1 Cuisine Pinot Noir Tasting, May 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"It has a deep colour with both red and dark fruit aromas presenting themselves alongside thyme and spice proudly on the nose. Then, upon the palate you encounter long, sensuous, juicy yet relaxed fruit flavours with good chalky tannins and spice, completing with a long, almost sweet, finish. A polished and well-crafted style of pinot noir, agreed by all to be a very smart example indeed."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2017 Vintage)
"Offering sweet fruit richness with refinement, the wine shows dark cherry, raspberry and vanillin oak characters on the nose with dried herb and mixed spice nuances. The palate displays excellent depth and intensity, together with plush mouthfeel and silky tannins, leading to a gorgeously long delicious finish. At its best: now to 2027."
