Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"An experimental wine sourced from a single vineyard. The exact makeup of varieties was not recorded.
The grapes were hand picked on the same day, whole bunch pressed and fermented, with light solids, in stainless steel. Post ferment the wine was settled and racked to neutral(old) barrels where it stayed for another 8 months. Regular lees stirring added another layer of complexity and weight. Bottled in January 2018 the wine has had another 2 years to further develop.
Showing aromas of fennel flower, citrus, blanched almonds and a touch of white pepper. It is a rich and complex wine with hints of nashi pear and lime. The wine has a silky, oily texture, chalky tannins with good length and persistency of flavour. Chill and enjoy."
89/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"It’s always an interesting and revealing exercise to taste wines where the exact make-up of the fruit is unknown. This wine presents aromas of white fleshed
fruits and white spices followed by warm generous lift highlighting a dry stone mineral note and bottle development complexity. On the palate – a dry wine with flavours of white fleshed fruits, apple & pear, then mandarin and spice. There’s a light lees note adding weight and richness. Overall a lovely wine with medium acidity and fruit led finish. Drink now and through 2021."
