Gold Medal & 95/100 – New World Wine Awards 2020
Kirrihill is a Clare Valley winery that is well known for producing wines that over-deliver on the quality/price front and this new release 2019 has really nailed it. A fantastic follow up to last year's trophy winning wine, this gives plenty of bang for your dollar.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Plum, dark berries and touch spice on the aroma. The weight and structure of the wine is full bodied. Moderately oaked it is rich and satisfying with fine tannins and sweet fruit."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Offering terrific fruit purity and intensity, the wine shows dark and purple fruit characters with nuances of vanilla, clove and roasted hazelnut on the nose. It’s equally satisfying on the palate, displaying excellent concentration and rounded mouthfeel, backed by silky texture and polished tannins, leading to a lengthy delectable finish. At its best: now to 2029."
89/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, October 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"This wine will be enjoyed by a wide audience because it has plenty of sweet fruit flavour and the mouthfeel to match. That is, it feels soft in the mouth, and it’s loaded with sweet berried flavour, tempered by cloves. It’s uncomplicated but here, that’s a good thing. If you see it sub $20 it’s well worth a shot."
