A benchmark for Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. Always hugely popular, it is a 'go-to' wine for many and its success is based on Jules' passion for the variety having crafted some of the most successful Sauvignon Blancs over many years. 2019 is no exception.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was grown in the Lower Wairau, Southern and Awatere Valley sub-regions of Marlborough. Each block was individually tended to, ensuring the grapes would reach ripeness with optimum flavour.
Vivacious tropical aromas of passionfruit burst from the glass, mixed with zingy accents of kaffir lime and subtle herbaceous notes of tomato stalk. With mouth-watering intensity, the palate embraces concentrated flavours of passionfruit and citrus and carries subtle hints of blackcurrant leaf. These flavours linger giving a long, well-rounded finish to the wine."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"It is fabulously fruited and inviting on the nose showing nectarine, grapefruit, Gala apple and lime zest characters. The palate delivers excellent fruit concentration and intensity, together with fine texture and vibrant acidity, finishing long and delicious. Immensely enjoyable. At its best: now to 2022."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"The 2019 vintage was grown in the lower Wairau, Southern and Awatere valleys, and made in a fully dry style (1.3 grams/litre of residual sugar). Full-bodied, sweet-fruited and lively, it has good intensity of tropical-fruit and herbaceous flavours, with a finely balanced, crisp finish."
91/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"Succulent, fresh, varietal and fruity with aromas of meyer lemon and tropical fruit, white peach and spring blossoms. On the palate – a dry wine with a core of fruit contrasted by acidity and flavours of fresh herbs. As the wine opens up in glass flavours of white pineapple and whispers of passion-fruit emerge. Steely, vibrant, fresh, balanced and well made. Ready to enjoy from today and through 2021."

92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Enticing, distinctive, pungent and precise bouquet of SB with aromas and flavours of crunchy apple and lemon, white peach and pineapple. Loads of acidity adding to a steely freshness and texture. Wet stone and sweet herb, just dry on the finish, balanced, fresh and well made. Drink now and through 2021."
4 Stars & 18.0-/20 Raymond Chan, September 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Bright, very light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is very elegant and fine in presentation with a tight core of pungent passionfruit and ripe tropical fruit with subtle notes of nettles and thirst-quenching chalky minerals. The aromatics build in intensity in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with a tight core and line of sweet, pungent passionfruit with notes of tropical fruits, herbs and nettles. The palate has light, dry, thirst-quenching phenolic textures and the flavours with good acid energy along a dry-textured, elegant line, leading to a chalky, minerally finish. This is an elegant, taut and textured Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit and tropical fruit flavours on a fine, dry phenolic line. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2 years. Fruit from Taylors Pass, Awatere and Omaka Valleys, Lower Wairau and Hawkesbury, cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 0.6 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for a short period."
