Like Raindrops is from three vineyards in Clarendon. Lilies and Tullah in McLaren Flat, which has deep sand on clay soils and Wood vineyard, the sandy ironstone ridge. Its mouth-filling juiciness is balanced with roses, spice, and this year, nice light prickly rustic tannin! Delicious.
Jauma wines have made quite an impact on the Australian wine scene since it was established by ex-master Sommelier James Erskine in 2009. The wines are part of the "natural wine movement' – grapes from organic vineyards, and they’re all made and bottled with no additions — wild yeast fermented and no preservatives. The 2016 vintage of this wine came to our attention when it was selected as the top Grenache in the September 2017 issue of the Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine tasting, heading a list of Australia's best. The 2020 continues the delicious tradition. We love the fact that this is natural, edgy and tastes damn good.

"2016 Jauma Like Raindrops shows just how succulent grenache can be in its youth. It starts with a ripe, dark fruit and cherry aroma, and follows suit with a supple, beautifully balanced palate. "the nose is rich and ripe, spicy, dried herb, tobacco and toasty/smoky," found (Huon) Hooke. "The palate is very fruit-sweet and lush, and the tannins are fine and emery-like. A full-bodied and deep wine with superb flavour. A stand-out drop." The label tells us 'no added sulphites', so enjoy it while it's young."
