Selected for the 2020 Fine Wines of New Zealand List
The twelfth vintage of Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc and what a wine to mark this milestone. With 25 vintages as head-honcho at the iconic Cloudy Bay previous to launching Greywacke, Kevin Judd's vast experience with Sauvignon Blanc is blindingly obvious when you try this wine. Beautifully ripe fruit, great concentration, incredible length and of course perfect balance leaves you with no doubt that this is super-premium Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It is only now when we are starting to see the release of the serious Sauvignon Blancs that we are getting a picture on how good the 2020 vintage was and it doesn't get much better than this.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Imagine a summer fruit salad – ripe golden peaches, honeydew melon, nectarines and passionfruit, with a generous splash of cassis and a sprinkling of lime zest – this is a subtle, delicately aromatic, ripe interpretation of Marlborough sauvignon blanc. The palate is generous and textural, showing great concentration and finishing with a crisp, succulent finish."
Reviews for the 2019 vintage below…
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Grown in the central Wairau Valley and the Southern Valleys, the 2019 vintage was handled principally in tanks (a small percentage was fermented with indigenous yeasts in old barrels). Pale lemon/green, it is fleshy, sweet-fruited and rounded, with generous, ripe tropical-fruit flavours, showing a distinct touch of complexity, and a dry, long finish. It's already very open and expressive."
