Greystone produce an outstanding Sauvignon Blanc. You could say it's an enhanced rendition of New Zealand's favourite variety. Naturally fermented in French oak barrels with wild yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation contributes complexity through the palate with rich fruit expression. The wine was naturally settled in barrel post fermentation, then blended and bottled on site without fining. The resulting wine shows fantastic richness on the palate yet it retains a lithe freshness throughout.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Truly unique style of Sauvignon Blanc for New Zealand! In our vineyard we grow two rare clones of Sauvignon Blanc ( 376 and 530 ), originally taken from the Loire Valley. This is very different from the rest of New Zealand, which generally uses a singular Bordeaux clone. Our vines produce much smaller bunches with golden coloured grapes – the Bordeaux tends to a heavier bunch size and more green tinged. These grapes give us beautiful fruit flavours of golden kiwifruit, mango, ripe pineapple and guava."

"Certified organic, the distinctive, very harmonious 2020 vintage was fermented and matured for eight months in seasoned French oak barriques. Bright, light yellow/green, it is fragrant, fleshy and sweet-fruited, with strong, ripe fruit flavours, oak complexity, gentle acidity and a smooth finish."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Pristine and finely expressed, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, lime peel, limestone and white floral nuances, leading to a brilliantly focused palate delivering excellent fruit purity and vibrancy. Delightfully textured and structured by vibrant acidity, finishing linear and persistent. At its best: now to 2028."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Many of the classic aromas of this variety are immediately recognisable with fresh white and yellow stone fruits, apple and citrus, but with this expression there’s more focus on minerality and less on the herbaceous drive the might come from vineyards further south. There’s also a smooth calm complexity through the bouquet. Crisp and fresh, salivating and dry on the palate. Many of the flavours from the bouquet repeat especially ripe lemon and grapefruit, apple and just a whisper of tropical fruit. Youthful and fresh with plenty of acidity, but also balanced, even and elegant across the palate. Well made with a lengthy finish. Best drinking from day of purchase ad through 2025."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Candice Chow for Raymond Chan Reviews, November 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Bright, medium yellow, even colour throughout. The wine has a ripe bouquet of fruit, packed with tropical fruit, citrus, white spice, herb and a suggestion of honey. Medium-full bodied, aromas of pineapple, lemon sherbet melded with white spice, unfolding zest and honey. The ripened fruit has vibrant acid tension. The palate is weighty with a creamy layer and fine-textured phenolics, contributed by barrel-fermentation and MLF. This is a complex Sauvignon Blanc with a tropical, citrus core and spice displaying its beauty on a creamy, textural palate. Match with savoury steamed custard and dim sum over the next 3-4 years. Wild-fermented in old French oak barrels for seven months, 95% MLF, 13.5% alc. BioGro organic certified, vegan friendly."
