A deliciously rich Shiraz from a serious organic producer. Gemtree make reds that are harmonious and natural but inky-dark and luscious. Packed with deeply extracted ripe fruit, the Bloodstone 2014 won a Gold from the NZIWS. Organic McLaren Vale vineyards produce ripe, quality juice that goes through an indigenous fermentation then 12 months in large and small French oak. Ethical and sustainable but rich and delicious.
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Dark ruby red with purple hues. A lifted and aromatic wine with notes of red cherry, black current, blueberry and a hint of spice. An open fire with a side serve of baked brie! The palate is medium-weight with a soft and generous mouthfeel. Well-balanced acidity highlights the vibrant and complex red and blue fruits yet still maintaining purity and elegance."

92/100 Huon Hooke, The Real Review, September 2019 (2018 Vintage)
"There’s a lot of wine here for a modest outlay. A deep red/purple colour leads into a plummy fruit aroma with a subtle lacing of oak. Bold, intense flavour of plum and blackberry with hints of earth and spice. Good balance; soft tannins. A big but very approachable shiraz."

"This has a very welcome oak scent on the nose, plus beautifully ripe fruit. Exemplary modern McLaren Vale Shiraz with grace and delicacy."
NZIWS (2014 Vintage)
"Addictive aromas of black/blueberry, liquorice, cedar and dark chocolate lead to a richly layered, powerfully expressed palate that is rounded and utterly delicious"
5 Stars & 18.5-/20 Raymond Chan (2014 Vintage)
"Full, very dark, near saturated black-red colour with purple hues. The nose is full and smoothly presented with harmoniously interwoven aromas of ripe, dark raspberry fruit, dark plums and nuances of boysenberries, unfolding florals, pepper and cedary oak. Full-bodied, fleshy, succulent and juicy flavours of ripe blackberries, raspberries and pepper full the palate. The fruit is supported by significant tannin extraction providing a robust structure. The fruit has vibrancy and brightness, enlivened by fresh acidity, lending a lusciousness to the mouthfeel, but the tannins grow forming a firm, fine-grained core that leads to a long and sustained, textured finish with raspberry, spice and liquorice notes. This is a vibrantly fleshy and juicy, sweet-fruited Shiraz with black and red fruits, and plenty of grunty tannin structure. Match with roasted game meat dishes over the next 8-9+ years. 100% McLaren Vale Shiraz fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine spending up to 12 days on skins and aged 12 months in French oak from barriques to puncheons. Australian Certified Organic."
