Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Representing four vineyard sites and encompassing three sub-regions in Marlborough (Brancott, Waihopai & Wairau Valley) this Pinot Noir clearly expresses a Fromm winery style. Opening with alluring bright, dark, red fruits, the nose is under laced with slatey minerals, Earl Grey spice and a subtle dusting of oak. The palate is generous with lovely fruit weight and tasty, balanced acidity. There’s a velvet structure to this wine which is aided by its ripe, layered tannins. This 2017 is very approachable and rewarding young yet complex enough to sit and wait out a handful of years in the cellar.
A bright and pure Pinot with good fruit weight and sweet spicy undertones. Layered and harmonious with a structural complexity yet offering lovely drink now approach-ability."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"Showing poise and restraint, the elegantly expressed bouquet shows sweet raspberry, cherry, thyme and almond characters with a touch of floral lift. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity and supple mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by fine texture and polished tannins. Beautifully composed and delightfully expressed. At its best: now to 2025. Certified organic."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"Certified organic, the 2017 vintage is a blend of grapes hand-picked from four vineyards – Quarters, Churton, Yarrum and Fromm – in three districts. Matured for 14 – 16 months in French oak barriques (less than 10 per cent new), it is bright ruby, full-bodied and complex, with concentrated, ripe, youthful, savoury, slightly nutty flavours and a firmly structured finish. Best drinking 2021+."
