“An expressive, cool climate Syrah showing physiological ripeness and complexity without excessive alcohol. The wine opens with bright, cassis fruit and ripe spices (i.e. not white pepper – more cracked black or Sichuan) before revealing a lifting minerality and violet florals. The palate is full, complex and follows through on the wine’s earlier promise of juicy dark berries. There’s a lovely texture provided by layered fine tannins, balanced acidity and very subtle oak sweetness.”

“A gorgeous expression of the variety, the wine was fermented using indigenous yeasts with a small amount of viognier (4%). The inviting bouquet shows dark plum, blueberry, clove, black olive and floral characters with a hint of cedar complexity. The palate is beautifully weighted and rounded, and offers excellent fruit purity combined with subtle savoury nuances, brilliantly framed by polished tannins. Wonderfully balanced and flavoursome. At its best: 2018 to 2023. Certified organic.”

“A cool-climate, ‘fruit-driven’ style – with style. The 2015 vintage, which includes a splash of Viognier, is certified organic. From various sites, including Fromm Vineyard and Clayvin Vineyard, it was hand-picked and matured in barriques and puncheons. Deeply coloured, with a fragrant, fresh, peppery bouquet, it is mouthfilling and firmly structured, with deep plum, spice and pepper flavours, oak complexity, and excellent potential for cellaring.”

“Full, very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full with deep and densely packed, up-front aromas of blackberry fruit with notes of blue fruited melded with liquorice and black pepper notes, spices, unfolding violet florals. Medium-bodied, the palate has bright and lively, ripe blackberry fruit along with dark raspberries and suggestions of blue fruits entwined with liquorice, black pepper and spices unfolding lifted violet florals. The mouthfeel is lively with fresh, lacy acidity, and fine, grainy structure and grip supports the fruit. The wine has plenty of body and carries to a light, nuanced finish. This is a bold, up-front Syrah with ripe black, blue and raspberry fruit flavours along with spices and florals on a grainy-structured, fresh palate. Match with slow-cooked red meats and Middle Eastern fare over the next 5-6+ yeas. Predominantly MS clone with clones 174, 470, Grippat and Chave, mainly from the ‘Fromm’ vineyard with ‘Clayvin’ vineyard fruit, vines 10-23 y.o., hand-picked, and co-fermented with 4% Viognier, with indigenous yeasts, the fruit destemmed, but with a large portion of uncrushed berries to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in barriques and 500 L puncheons, approx. 10% new. Certified BioGro organic.”
