Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Pristine dark red/blue fruit, florals, spice and minerals on the nose, leading to a structured, persistent yet velvety palate."
5 Stars & 97/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A magnificent offering; the fabulously fragrant bouquet shows dark berry aromas with dried herb, warm spice, flint, almond and floral notes, followed by a impeccably focused palate that offers outstanding weight and depth. It is multi-layered and symphonic, as well as firmly structured, promising to evolve graciously. From the Brancott Valley district. At its best: 2020 to 2030. Certified organic."
96/100 Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com (2017 Vintage)
"A strong red-cherry nose with a deep sense of complexity that is, for now, tightly buried in this young pinot. There is plenty of spice and earthy sous bois to come with some more time. The pedigree is instantly seen on the palate with an enthralling interplay of power and elegance. Long, fresh and pure cherries and red plums fold through layers of fine tannins."
5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2017 Vintage)
"Marlborough’s best-known pinot noir vineyard has produced a high energy wine with cherry, fresh herb, floral/red rose, and spicy oak flavours. Mature vines on a top site are providing both concentration and consistency together with an ability to age well."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"This acclaimed Marlborough red is grown and hand-picked on north-facing clay slopes at Clayvin Vineyard, in the Brancott Valley, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured in French oak barriques, and bottled without fining or filtering. In its youth, it is more floral and charming than its Fromm Vineyard stablemate. Certified organic, the very youthful, vigorous 2017 vintage is rare – only eight barrels were produced. Deeply coloured, it is full-bodied and sweet-fruited, with very deep, plummy, spicy flavours, earthy, savoury notes adding complexity, fresh acidity, supple tannins, and a lovely combination of power and grace. Full of potential, it should be at its best 2022+."
