Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Lifted aromas of cedar combine seamlessly with black pepper spice and subtle cloves, blue fruits, young berries and Damson plums to create a soft juicy palate. Lovely textural tannins produce an elegant cool climate Shiraz.
This wine was made from Shiraz and a splash of Viognier grown on the family’s estate vineyard. A selection of fruit was harvested from the younger vines planted 2006 on a high ironstone rocky ridge and the original vines around the winery. The Isolation Ridge vineyard is managed under organic principals (certified organic 2010), a practice we feel is important for reflecting the uniqueness of the site."
95/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Retains its good colour; the bouquet and palate alike have started to develop the complex spicy, savoury forest floor characters that are the mark of topflight pinot noir. The length of the palate is of itself a measure of the quality of this wine, and the great vintage promises even more down the track."
5 Stars Huon Hooke, The Real Review (2017 Vintage)
"Medium to deep red colour with a good tinge of purple. The bouquet is spicy, earthy, savoury and far from simple although fruit-driven. Peppery elements too. It's medium-bodied and savoury, with firm drying tannins and some ironstone, minerally notes. It's very approachable already."
Very Good Value, JancisRobinson.com (2017 Vintage)
"Bright crimson. Very clean and peppery with sweet fruit but real energy. Like the entry-level Riesling, this is a star! So obviously Syrah (rather than Shiraz) and really fresh and refreshing without being tart. Probably not for the long term but really delicious now. Quite long!"
