Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Our organic grapes are hand selected at just the right moment to showcase the satisfying tension between natural sweetness and crisp acidity. This wonderful aperitif style has wild raspberry and orange citrus fruit flavours, and a lower alcohol content."

5 Stars & 96/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2017 Vintage)
"New Zealand’s top riesling producer has again released an array of absolutely top wines from the 2017 vintage, a year that appears to be well-suited to the production of botrytis-influenced styles. Framingham’s winemaker, Dr Andrew Hedley, is a man who understands riesling better than anyone I know. He manages to make top wines every year with consummate ease. Andrew is helped by the fact that Framingham has one of the oldest riesling vineyards in Marlborough and the company is prepared to lavish time and money making tiny quantities of wines, which can compete with the world’s best.

2017 Framingham Select Riesling is an old favourite that normally has zero botrytis influence, but this year it had an estimated 5% and a residual sugar of 62 gms/l. 2013 is the only other vintage that Framingham Select Riesling had any botrytis character."

5 Stars Michael Cooper (2017 Vintage)
"'Inspired by the German Spätlese style', the 2017 vintage is light-bodied (9 per cent alcohol) and highly scented. Vibrantly fruity, it is a gently sweet (62 grams/litre residual sugar) style, with penetrating, citrusy, appley flavours, showing lovely purity, delicacy and harmony. A very age-worthy wine, it should break into full stride from 2020 onwards."

93/100 Jamie Goode, May 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"9% alcohol, Spatlese style. Look to make this every year: 16 vintages have been made so far. Whole bunch pressed, and will try to use the pressings if they can. Spend a lot of time by the press tasting all the time, looking at the phenolics, looking for metallic notes. Will make a diversion and if we don’t like it we will do something else with it. Linear and fresh with nice sweetness offsetting the acid, and lovely clean citrus fruit characters, together with grapey, spicy richness. Has an interesting mouthfeel. Very ripe flavours here with smooth phenolic structure. Has a slight raspberry ripple flavour, says Andrew, and he’s right: there’s some red fruit here."

5 Stars & 19.0/20 Raymond Chan, December 2017 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with a firm and intense nose of white florals and subtle lime and citrus fruit notes, along with distinctive saline and mineral notes. This is tightly bound and shows wet-stone minerality at the core. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate has a penetrating and deeply concentrated, but fine core of lime fruit, with floral and honied notes. This has clarity and precision, with the honied flavours building in richness. The mouthfeel has a sleek flow, with brisk, slippery acidity and a very fine-textured line. The wine carries to a long, lingering finish of limes, florals and honey. This is a beautifully pure and precise, medium-sweet Riesling with great clarity and a slippery flow. Serve as an aperitif, or match with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 5-6+ years. A fruit-pure Spatlese style. Selective hand-picked fruit at 21.3 Brix from the ‘Front’ block old vines with an average of 5% botrytis, WBP and cool-fermented to 8.7% alc. and 62 g/L RS. 1,540 bottles made.
