FILIPPI SOAVE COLLI SCALIGERI CASTELCERINO 2019

Cantina Filippi is situated at Castelcerino high in the Verona hills in the Veneto region of northern Italy and has been making excellent wines for over 100 years. The estate is owned and run by the ambitious Filippi and Visco families and includes agrotourism among its activities. Everything is carried out biodynamically (certified 2007), only natural yeasts are used and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. This delightful white is from 60 year old Garganega vines grown in the Colli Scaligeri subzone of Verona at an altitude of 320 metres above sea level. The soils are volcanic and this lends a certain sapidity and minerality to the wine, making it great with food.

A straw yellow in colour with an aromatic and floral nose. Look for aromas of almonds and green fruits. On the palate flavours of tropical stone fruit and citrus with notes of aromatic herbs. This pairs well with the notoriously difficult-to-match asparagus. Alternatively try with pasta and green pesto, Sashimi dishes or a ripe Taleggio cheese.
