Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"Our exploration and discovery of just how versatile and spectacular Riesling can be continues. For many years Escarpment has sought greater complexity through innovative fermentation techniques especially in quite varieties. 100% Te Muna Road fruit is adding beautiful floral line notes. A dry style, ideal as an aperitif or early in a meal which will age gracefully into a more remarkable wine"

94/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, February 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"A new label from Escarpment named after founder/winemaker Larry McKenna’s son, Ryan. A bone-dry, but not excessively austere, riesling with apple, ginger, guava and citrus flavours. The wine has an appealing smooth texture and an impressively lingering finish. It should develop well with bottle age."

4 Stars & 18.0/20 Raymond Chan, March 2018 (2017 Vintage)
"Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hueas, a little paler on the rim. The nose is elegant with very fine and intense aromas of lime fruit entwined with fragrant herbs and white florals, and a subtle array of botanicals. This is refined and penetrating. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has intense, deep and tightly bound flavours lime fruit infused with herbs and botanical suggestions, along with lifted white florals. The mouthfeel is bright and refreshing with brisk acidity, and the flavours are carried by a very fine phenolic line. The palate is balanced and has vibrancy, and the flavours carry to an elegant’ lingering finish of limes, florals and herbs. This is an intense and penetrating dry Riesling with bright and lively lime fruit along with herbs and florals on a brisk palate. Reminiscent of a ‘gin and tonic’! Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 4 years. Fruit from the company’s Te Muna Road site, fermented with skin contact and in barrel to 11.3% alc. and <1 g/L RS, TA 7.0 g/L and pH 3.25. the wine given lees contact."
