Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Bright ruby red in colour, the wine opens with lifted perfume and fresh summer berries. An elegant vintage has given us softness and focus. It is very fragrant and attractive with fresh red berries, underpinned with turned earth, subtle spice and savoury notes, which add to complexity. The fresh berries continue on the palate with ripe cranberry, fresh cherry and strawberry, creating a bright vibrancy and crunchie freshness. Soft, fine-grained tannin also intertwine on the palate, creating texture and poise.
The Noir label brings together over three decades of wine making experience, creating a soft, bright, fruit forward wine which can be enjoyed immediately or will cellar successfully for several years. Made using traditional techniques from fruit grown on the Martinborough terrace. The fruit was destemmed into open top vessels and fermented using indigenous yeast. After an average vat time of 20 days the wine was pressed off and aged in predominately older French barriques for 10 months. Bottled without fining or filtration, the resulting wine is a blend of 24 individual parcels. Structure and texture sit perfectly with ripe fruit flavours and gentle tannins that combine with intriguing complexity. Enjoy with many types of cuisine or cellar confidently for up to 5 years."
91/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review (2022 Vintage)
"Fresh, high energy, entry level wine with bright, herbal and tangy flavours. Accessible now and probably best enjoyed within a few years."

Rated Excellent, 5 Stars & 95/100 NZ Wine Rater, January 2023 (2021 Vintage)
"Intense, complex, fragrant nose with stimulating aromas of black cherry, tobacco leaf, cigar box, coffee grinds and a hint of marmite. Medium-weight, but tasty, concentrated and intense with plush fruit, lovely sour cherry and spice flavours and sappy, supple tannins providing ample structure. An impressive wine that needs another year or two to show its best."

All the way in Christchurch, but occasionally order from this store as it has wines I like that I can't source elsewhere, at a great price too. Always great service, and will keep using them.

I had been searching for a very specific wine and I finally found it here. Not only did they have the wine I was searching for, they had a beautiful collection of other wines. If you are a wine lover, be sure to check out Vino Fino. The staff were very knowledgeable on the types of wine and the wine makers. I will be coming back again for sure.

Unfortunately I just think the service could have been friendlier. I knew what I wanted so should have been an easy customer so started telling my list to the not overly friendly person who asked me if I was ok. They didn’t have everything I wanted which I was fine with but then the two people at the till didn’t even say hello or offer any sort of acknowledgement which I think is quite rude. This was my first time in and I just felt like it should have been a little better. I’ve always thought these guys were the Ballantynes of the Christchurch Liqour scene but the inside just reminded me of a pop up warehouse. Sorry team, but I think you could look and be better.

Possibly the best wine shop in New Zealand. I've been coming here for 11+ years. Excellent, interesting wines at a range of price points; friendly, personal and knowledgeable service. If the wall of Sauv Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz and Pinot Noir at the supermarket doesn't do it for you, you need to sign up for Vino Fino's email. They work hard to get sharp prices on very good wines.

An amazing selection of wine from pretty much all over the planet! Price are decent too and for sure if you are good at spotting the right wine can get some amazing wines to a more than fair price! Parking is a bit of an issue but worst come to worst can park at the south city carpark and walk 100m!

So impressed with this business. I order online for delivery (some courier companies say we are rural) and always receive the order the next day. Love the Italian selections, styles and every wine I've received has been very good. Keep up the very good service!

Amazing customer service. Vino Fino arranged a gift wrapped, hand delivered, chilled bottle of champagne for the morning of my best friends wedding, as I was stuck in the UK with COVID. A beautiful gift. It was like nothing was too much trouble for them. I was even able to dictate a small message. Thank you for your excellent service!

They appear to be competitively priced. Service was excellent. The shop is split over three levels. Not sure how you'd cope if you are mobility impaired.
