Gold Medal – Marlborough Wine Show 2019
Eradus Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc has firmly re-established itself as a star Sauvignon at Vino Fino and now the show judges are noticing too. It's a delicious, softly juicy Sauvignon and at this price, it is unbelievable value.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Our vines grow on a slender terrace at the edge of the Awatere River, with a climate and soil structure all of its own. Influenced by a fault line, a river, and the power of the nearby Pacific Ocean, our land is stony and dry, windy and cool, so that our wines have elegance, minerality and crisp clean acidity. We let the untamable terroir of the Awatere Valley speak through our vines, creating wines that are the Essence of the Awatere.
Pure zingy citrus fruits and lovely subtle minerality on the palate, complimented with floral notes of nettle, tomato stalk and lime. A balanced and rounded wine with a long concentrated clean crisp finish."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"The wine is fabulously fruited and lifted on the nose showing passionfruit, kiwifruit, peach and lime zest characters. It is equally impressive on the palate with excellent purity and vibrancy backed by fine texture and refreshing acidity, finishing superbly long and delicious. At its best: now to 2022."
Reviews for the 2018 vintage below…
95/100 Rebecca Gibb MW (2018 Vintage)
"Well this is just gorgeous. 2018 might've been the warmest summer on record for NZ but the distinctive zesty nettle and grassy characters of the cooler, windier Awatere are still right here. Pure, sophisticated Sauvignon made with love."
92/100 Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc shows no signs of dilution. It's all Awatere Valley fruit, mostly from the estate, with a couple of blocks of purchased fruit from slightly inland. Grassy and leafy notes accent the ripe nectarine fruit on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is concentrated and round, with pink grapefruit notes that linger harmoniously on the finish."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2018 Vintage)
"The 2018 vintage is aromatic and strongly varietal. Bright, light lemon/green, it is freshly herbaceous, with melon, lime and green-capsicum flavours, crisp and punchy, and some tropical fruit notes. A forthright young wine, it offers good value."
