"For the last decade, Luke has visited the US hop growing region every September (excluding this year due to Covid) for the hop harvest. He hand selects specific batches of hops for Epics beer production. Due to these trips he has become highly knowledgeable about hops and has built some great relationships with hop growers and hop breeders. One additional benefit is he gets an insight into new hop varieties in development. When they are finally released commercially, he has already been learning about them and often has first access. In 2019 when Luke was visiting a hop farm, and entered a bailing room he was surprised and wowed by the aroma of the room. He asked what hop it was and was told it was HBC 692 (now named Talus). He said ‘I gotta get some of that”. Talusman is a perfect example of Epic again being first to market. Epic decided not to use 100% of Talus as it is related to Sabro, and has a dominant woody/coconut character which can be a bit much. So it was brewed with delicious fruity Mosaic. It tastes like an incredible fruity coconut tropical cocktail. Another wonderful hazy IPA from Epic."
