Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"The Elephant in the Room wines are proudly large in scale and expansive in flavour. Ignoring fashion and braving the scorn “wine thought police” Elephant in the Room was created to give wine loving consumers exactly what they want – full flavoured and mouth-filling wines that deliver maximum pleasure.
It may be the fashion to pull back on the flavour but there’s no way to control the gargantuan flavour of the Barossa that is expressed in our new splendiferous Shiraz. This is a full throttle taste of what the Barossa is famous for, big fruit flavours and ample body weight with a nicely complex palate. Matured in small oak barrels, this full of velvety attitude and swagger. Pair with an enormous steak."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows black/blueberry, cedary oak, clove and dark cocoa notes on the nose, followed by a wonderfully flavoursome palate offering excellent fruit power and seductive complexity, finishing long and super velvety. At its best: now to 2029."
90/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, August 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Chocolate. It tastes and smells of chocolate. There’s blackberried fruit behind and associated clovey spice notes, perhaps a whisper of toast too. Liquid toast. It’s medium-to-bold, neat, solid, uncomplicated without being simple. You won’t get excited over this but but nor will you go wrong.
90/100 Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot (2019 Vintage)
"Love the new bottle and label here which no doubt will get plenty of people taking it home for the night. The good news is that the juice is also on the mark. Bright deep ruby, this is a chunky and crowdpleasing Barossan Shiraz which offers rich, sweet jammy aromas – think blackberry and fruits of the forest – well matched with sweet coconut oak. The palate is then rich and jubey with a gentle dusting of spice and baked earth plus some freshness of acidity to give a youthful finish. Drink it up with bangers and mash, and don’t forget the onions and a liberal splash of gravy.
