Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2020
Astrolable's 'second' label offers plenty of style without the price tag as indicated by winning a Gold at the 2020 NZIWS.
A bone-dry, crisp style using equal parts of pinot noir and pinot gris from across the Marlborough region produced by Astrolabe. A pretty, aromatic nose with notes of pomegranate molasses, red delicious toffee apple, strawberry conserve and crab apple jelly. A round mouthfeel, with a smooth and ethereal texture. This wine is bone dry with delicately balanced acidity.
Reviews for the 2019 vintage below…
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Offering great value, the 2019 vintage, grown in the Awatere Valley, is a 50:50 blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Bright, light pink, it is crisp and lively, with good body, strong watermelon and spice flavours, and a crisp, fully dry (1.3 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish."
Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, January 2020 (2019 Vintage)
"Pale, delicate rosé with crushed strawberry, raspberry, vanilla and subtle spice flavours. Bright, fresh wine in an off-dry style. Fine chalky tannins on the finish. Offers very good value at this price."
